5th and 6th Grade Band at Korematsu

Good news for 5th and 6th grade musicians from Fairmont, Kensington, Madera, Harding, Washington, Mira Vista and Riverside Elementary Schools! Tiffany Carrico, band director at Korematsu Middle School, will be holding Wednesday night band classes once again this year. This class provides the unique chance for musicians from different elementary schools to work together on a regular basis. It has been wonderfully successful the last couple of years and is run free of charge.

The class will start on Wednesday, Oct. 5 and will run weekly from 6-7 pm in the Korematsu band room (D109). The band will have at least a couple of performances during the year (details to be announced later).

Ms. Carrico generally does not have instruments to loan out since the Korematsu program has expanded greatly in recent years. She hopes that all kids will be signing up for in-school band class (if they don’t own an instrument) so they can check out a district instrument that way.

Please send Ms. Carrico a quick email (scrappyslap@hotmail.com) or give her a quick call (510-717-0718) if you would like your child to participate.

Questions? Contact Jen Treuting at jentreuting@yahoo.com.

Thank You!!

A triple-scoop thank you to Lisa King for organizing the Ice Cream Social, and to all the teachers and volunteers who set up, brought toppings, served, guided, and cleaned up. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 people enjoyed ice cream with toppings! Thanks also to Anita Miller for managing the T-shirt sales!!
