Walk-a-thon - Register Today!
For our Walk-A-Thon, we're using an awesome, web-based fundraising system that makes it much easier for you to request pledges from your family and friends, and for them to make secure credit card donations online. It's fun, it's easy, and people who use it typically raise twice as much as those who don't!
Remember, our Walk-A-Thon is October 7, so please register now to help our school raise as much as we can for our PTA funded programs like K-3 music, Science for grades 4-6, Point Bonita Overnight Trip for all 5th graders, plus field trip and classroom stipends for all grade levels. The PTA also funds in school visits for things like anti-bullying programs, PlayWorks and more. In addition, the PTA funds a garden program and other special programs like reading night, math night, science fair and science night:
- Go to http://pledgestar.com/fairmont.
- Enter your name and email address, then click Register.
- Follow the instructions on-screen.
When you finish, the system sends email pledge requests to your family and friends, and allows them to make secure credit card donations online. You get notified each time a pledge is made, and you can track your pledge progress online.
Call 1-888-598-7510 if you need help.

Reminder: 5th and 6th Grade Band at Korematsu
Good news for 5th and 6th grade musicians from Fairmont, Kensington, Madera, Harding, Washington, Mira Vista and Riverside Elementary Schools! Tiffany Carrico, band director at Korematsu Middle School, will be holding Wednesday night band classes once again this year. This class provides the unique chance for musicians from different elementary schools to work together on a regular basis. It has been wonderfully successful the last couple of years and is run free of charge.
The class will start on Wednesday, Oct. 5 and will run weekly from 6-7 pm in the Korematsu band room (D109). The band will have at least a couple of performances during the year (details to be announced later).
Ms. Carrico generally does not have instruments to loan out since the Korematsu program has expanded greatly in recent years. She hopes that all kids will be signing up for in-school band class (if they don’t own an instrument) so they can check out a district instrument that way.
Please send Ms. Carrico a quick email (email@example.com) or give her a quick call (510-717-0718) if you would like your child to participate.
