Thanks for your support!
Papi's Pizza Roma This Friday
This Friday, October 14, is our monthly Papi's Pizza Roma fundraiser. Come in and join Fairmont families, take a pizza out, or order for a party. Just mention "Fairmont" when you make your order, and they will give a share to our PTA. All proceeds benefit Fairmont students.
Last Call for BoxTops
If you haven't yet turned in BoxTops you've been collecting, this is the time. Please turn your collected BoxTops to the school office by Friday. We can still accept BoxTops that expire 11/1/16 or later; all earlier dates cannot be sent in.
If you haven't been collecting BoxTops, please start doing so. Each BoxTops coupon is worth $0.10. That might not seem like a lot, but if every Fairmont family collected 20 BoxTops a year, this would raise over $600 for the school. And it's easy to collect many more. It's likely that everyone could clip 50 or more labels from the brands you probably already buy, and getting us to our $1000 goal.
Participating is easy. Just clip the BoxTops coupons and drop them off in the school office. There is a jar labeled "BoxTops" on the counter. Or you can bring them to a PTA meeting.
Get your kids looking for the BoxTops icon. It's a fun way for students, especially younger students, to help Fairmont. You'll be surprised at how many products you currently buy have BoxTops!
For more information, visit our fundraising page and look for the BoxTops section.
Walk-a-Thon a Huge Success
Thanks to Fairmont's community for your tremendous support of our Walk-a-Thon last Friday! Not only did the kids have a great time, this event raised over $14,000 for our students, making it the second biggest fundraiser of our year!
We won't know until next week what the final tally is. In fact, we are still taking pledges until this Friday, October 14. So keep up the great work! One hundred percent of every dollar after $16,000 benefits our students and programs. Online donations can be made through this Friday.
Thanks to Mrs. Bernhardt and their teachers for the support! Also, thanks to Anita Miller for helping coordinate and secure donations, and to April Parekh for helping seek donations. Thanks to all the parents and community volunteers that helped count laps, pass out snacks and have fun on the day of the event.
We would also like to thank our sponsors: B&T Bookkeeping and Jenny K., along with donations from Premier Graphics, Trader Joes, Safeway, Target, Berkeley Rep, Contra Costa Civic Theater, Cheese Board Pizza, Crema Restaurant and Well Grounded.

"Relections" Art Contest Entries Due Oct 25
Each year the national PTA hosts a contest that encourages students to use their creativity. This program, called Relections, invites kids to create visual, musical, and literary expressions of a theme. This year's theme is "What is Your Story?"
This will be the first time in many years that Fairmont's PTA has organized something around the Reflections program. We have decided to focus on the Visual Art and Photography categories, but will not be holding a specific event. We will be encouraging teachers to support the event in their classrooms, and asking parents to work with their children at home on entries. Please have students bring their entries to teachers on or before October 25. We will announce winners on October 28.
For more about the entry categories, judging at the higher levels of PTA, and inspiration, visit the Reflections web site at http://www.pta.org/reflections. If you can help judge entries or otherwise be involved in the program, please contact Arthur Norcome at email@example.com.
