Spell-a-thon Begins!

Help your kids become great spellers while encouraging their support of their school! Our annual Spell-a-thon begins this week. In past years, we have raised $5000-7000 for Fairmont's programs through this academic fundraiser, showing how much our community values student learning. Encourage friends and family to support your child with $1-2 per correctly spelled word.

If you have questions, please contact Dawn Miller at pta-financialsecretary@fairmontschool.org.

Auction & Raffle!

Today our wonderful PTA volunteers distributed packets with raffle tickets and information about our annual Fairmont Auction, March 11, at 6PM. Once again we have some great raffle prizes, including Disneyland tickets. In past years, our raffle has brought in as much as $7000, so it is a very important part of the fundraising that supports our PTA student programs.

We will have more information about the auction in the coming weeks. If you have questions, please contact Debbie Marshall at pta-auction@fairmontschool.org.

PTA Board Meeting Tomorrow Jan 13, 2:45PM, in Library

Our January PTA Board meeting has been rescheduled to this Friday, Jan 13, at 2:45PM, in the school library (P-1). All are welcome to attend. Our next association meeting will be in early February.

ELAC Potluck Jan 23 at 6PM!

Join Fairmont families January 23 at 6PM in the Multipurpose Room for a potluck with the English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC). Bring an interesting cultural food item to share. There will be activities, as well, including some math games.

Pizza Roma this Friday - Jan 13!

Hungry for pizza? Why not share a bit of that dough with Fairmont's students. A part of what you pay for your tab at Papi's Pizza Roma this Friday, Jan 13, goes to support Fairmont's programs. It's a great chance to get out and socialize with Fairmont families as well. Thank you for your support!

Help Need for Wednesday Ice Cream Sales

We could use a few more helpers with Wednesday ice cream sales. If you can spare 30-45 minute after pick up on Wednesdays, please contact Kabina Shrestha at kabina4@yahoo.com.

Collect and Submit BoxTops

A great way to get your kids involved in raising money for Fairmont is collecting Box Tops coupons! Each coupon is worth $0.10, which doesn't seem like a lot, but we've raised nearly $800 in past years! The kids — especially the younger ones — enjoy spying these coupons on products you didn't even know had Box Tops; there are a lot of them! Make it a contest at your house to see who can find the most.

You can bring your Box Tops to the school office by February 15. We turn in Box Tops twice each year -- mid-October and mid-February. Make sure you turn in anything that will expire soon! Note that we have to throw out any expired coupons, so check those dates!!

If you want to learn more about Box Tops fundraising, you can visit Fairmont's Fundraising page or the Box Tops FAQ.

Practicing Toolbox at Home

Remember to practice the life skills that Fairmont's Toolbox program provides!

Don't know what Toolbox is? In a nutshell, it is a 12-skill program for coping with and resolving stresses and conflict that arise from our relationships. Fairmont's teachers have been training students in using these skills at school, and last month there was a brief training for parents. We highly recommend parents unfamiliar with or just learning these tools visit the Toolbox web site for more information: https://dovetaillearning.org/. There are several videos that provide details on the goals and outcomes of learning the toolbox.

Thanks!!

Kindergarten Registration — Thank you everyone who helped with Kindergarten Registration last Monday. It was the first year with online registration, and while we still had 30+ parents enroll on-site, things went much more smoothly than expected. Thanks to Amy Miles, Jamie Boreen, Jen Komaromi, Galen Murphy, and our wonderful office staff for helping things go smoothly for new Fairmont families!
