PTA General Meeting Monday, Feb 13, 6:30PM, in MPR to Discuss School Facilities Planning
If you want to have input into how Fairmont spends the bond money we will get in the 2018-2019 time frame, please join us this Monday, February 13 at 6:30pm, in the Multipurpose Room. District staff will be there to help get the planning process started.
Some parents met this week to get the discussion started and generated a list of ideas. We encourage you to add your thoughts to this discussion, via the Google sheet we set up. Simply click the following link and add your ideas in a new row. Spell-a-thon Pledges Due
If you have not already turned in money for the Spell-a-thon, now is the time to do so. What we collect by this Friday will help us determine prizes. Please note, however, that we will gratefully receive donations after Friday! Spell-a-thon has historically been one of our best fundraisers of the year and brings in a lot of money to fund programs for Fairmont students.
If you have questions, please contact Dawn Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Auction & Raffle!
Are you selling tickets for Fairmont's Raffle? Once again we have some great raffle prizes, including Disneyland tickets. In past years, our raffle has brought in as much as $7000, so it is a very important part of the fundraising that supports our PTA student programs.
Our annual Fairmont Auction will be March 11, at 6PM. We will have more information about the auction in the coming weeks. If you have questions or items to donate, please contact Debbie Marshall at email@example.com.
Pizza Roma this Friday - Feb 10!
We hope to see lots of Fairmont families at Papi's Pizza Roma this Friday, Feb 10, for our monthly supper club fundraiser, the proceeds of which support Fairmont's programs. Just mention Fairmont with your in-person or phone order, and our kids will get a share of the tab. Thank you for your support!
Last Call for BoxTops
Bring your Box Tops to the school office by February 15. We turn in Box Tops twice each year -- mid-October and mid-February. Make sure you turn in anything that will expire soon! Note that we have to throw out any expired coupons, so check those dates!!
President's Week Break
Our annual President's Week Break runs from Feb 20 through Feb 24. During this time, there will be no school, so please be sure to make other arrangement for your child. The normal school reschedule resumes Monday, Feb 27.

Support El Cerrito High School's Music Program, this Saturday, Feb 11
The El Cerrito High School Jazz Festival is this Saturday, Feb. 11. This is an all-day festival in which top high school jazz bands compete.
There are also two exciting headline concerts:
- 1pm University of the Pacific Jazz Ensemble
- 7pm the exceptional Donny McCaslin Group
Tickets are $15 for the entire day -- feel free to come to any or all of the competitions and performances. It's a great chance for younger musicians to see a range of fun jazz music -- and a good chance to support the high school music department as well!
More info can be found on the festival website: FESTIVAL
Bay Area Black-American Art Show
Until February 26, there is an art show at the Nvisible Atelier in Oakland featuring the work of Black-American artists, including Fairmont parent Arthur Norcome. There is an artist reception this Saturday, Feb 11, from 2-5pm. http://nva.eventbrite.com. 416 26th St, Oakland, CA (Warehouse 416). The show "sheds light upon [Black-Americans'] presence within an art historical canon that relegates the majority of our contributions to the margins."
