5th and 6th Grade Trip to Korematsu Tomorrow!

Make sure your 5th and 6th grade students arrive to school on time tomorrow, April 29th, as they will need to leave immediately for their visit to Korematsu Middle School.

Golden Gate Fields Fundraiser - May 5th

We have the opportunity to help raise another thousand dollars at Golden Gate Fields which will cover about half of our 3rd grade swim. It's only a couple of hours and lots of fun so come join us at the races! Please note that alcohol is served and thus only adults may volunteer, however, you are not required to have a volunteer badge. https://signup.com/go/tPQVksy

PTA Board Election Results

Congratulations to our new PTA board! They will take on the duties of Fairmont's PTA starting July 1, but are already working unofficially to learn the ropes and decide what programs to continue next year.

The new board is: Parliamentarian - Elmer Ruiz, Membership Chair - Amy deHart, Communications Chair - Mike Levy, Hospitality Chair - Karley Benson Saveland, Financial Secretary - Maira Yuri Garcia de Pilayo, Secretary - Tracy White-Taylor, Treasurer - Greg Chang, Executive Vice President - Kelly Gould, and President - April Parekh. Thank you all for stepping up!

Teacher Appreciation

Calling all "artsy" people. We will be decorating the classroom doors for Teacher Appreciation week which is May 5 - May 11th. Decorating is usually done the Friday before Appreciation week or Monday the 5th. There are several doors where we are unlikely to have a parent that might decorate such as the Grad tutor, Playworks Coach, etc., so please feel free to sign up for these doors if someone already has your room covered. Feel free to add teachers/staff to this list as it is not all encompassing. Sign up here.

Principal Input Meeting Update

On Monday, April 22nd, there was a meeting to seek input from the community about what Fairmont parents are looking for in a new principal. They activity asked parents what they liked about Fairmont, what ways it could most be improved, what we would want an incoming principal to know about Fairmont and also what qualities were paramount in the incoming principal. Interviews are expected to commence on May 2nd and there will be a panel which will include 2 parents and 2 teachers that will help in the interviewing process. After that, candidates will meet with the Superintendent. We expect to know who the new principal is by the end of May. If you have any questions, please feel free to email aprilparekh@gmail.com.
