Walk-a-thon signup & shirts
Walk-a-thon is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and the one that is the easiest to help with. We simply need you to signup on Pledgestar and post on social media. Not on social media? You can share via email with your friends and family. This year you can also order a Walk-a-thon shirt that your child can wear to the event. Proceeds from the shirts will go directly toward things like music, art, and playworks. The deadline for ordering shirts is September 19th. The Walk-a-thon will be on October 11th and the family that raises the most money will win a Family four pack of tickets to Disneyland! The class that raises the most will earn a pizza party and any class that raises 4k will get a popsicle party.
First PTA General Meeting, Sept 10
Join us for our first meeting of the school year. Win a tshirt or car magnet. There will also be a discount for shirts and a little swag for joining the PTA at the meeting. Find out how donations are used and how much our programs costs. Playworks is one of the most extensive programs that we support. Come meet Coach Danielle and find out more about Playworks. Attending a meeting is a great way to meet new people, ask questions, and give input. We hope to see you Tuesday night at 7 PM in the MPR.
School Site Council Election
Please return the SSC Ballots that came home in the Friday folders as soon as possible. They are due on September 12! Our first SSC meeting of the year will be on September 16 at 3pm.
6th Grade Graduation plans
Sixth grade families: We need to start planning the promotion events, activities, and/or keepsake(s). Last year the class parent volunteers did a yearbook/photo book, a party at the EC pool (outside of school), a dance on a Friday night, and the ceremony in the MPR. Only the latter event happens regularly - everything else is up to the families! We don't have to do those same things in the same way, but whatever our vision is for the kids, now is the time to get going. Interested adults should send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to get on the planning committee. Those who are interested will have a separate Facebook group or meeting. ALSO - the kids should be involved, perhaps something led by the Student Council 6th graders, like a project to give back. (Just an idea.) Talk to your student and share their feedback and willingness to volunteer!
Volunteer Fingerprinting Party at Harding
We are always looking for volunteers to help with events but usually this requires a volunteer badge. If you don't have one, this is the perfect time to get one. Just complete the online application form and then you can drop by Harding to be fingerprinted on September 14 from 9 am - noon in the MPR. This saves you the trip to WCCUSD central office to be fingerprinted.
Third Grade Back to School Night
Third grade Back to School Night will be Wednesday, September 11 at 6PM. This is an adult event so please arrange to have childcare for your student(s).
Be a Room Parent or Volunteer in Your Class
Are you interested in helping in your classroom? There are a few ways you can help: Sign up to be a Room Parent or just let us know you’re available to help. If you’ve already signed up with your teacher, let us know as well!
English Language Advisory Council Meeting
ELAC will have their first meeting of the year Friday, September 13th at 8:30AM in the MPR. This meeting is a great one to attend if your child is an English learner, help decide how they can best be served at the school.
FASEP enrollment now open / Scholarships available!
Fairmont After School Enrichment Program (FASEP) enrollment is now open! You can enroll either online or by filling out the paper enrollment form (also sent home in your student's folder) and turning it in to the El Cerrito Community Center. Check out the exciting classes in Art, Multi-Sports, X-Fit Lil Ninja Warriors,Intro to Spanish, Soccer, Intro to Mandarin, Aloha Mind Math, Fun Environmental Science and Chess that are being offered.
The Fairmont PTA & the El Cerrito Recreation Center offer two scholarships for families:
- David Hunter Youth Scholarship (which covers 75% of course fees up to $150/year) -and-
- Fairmont PTA Scholarship (which covers an additional 75% of course fees up to $100/year)

Noodles Fresh Fundraiser
Please come dine at Noodles Fresh(10042 San Pablo Ave., near the Cerrito Theater) on Tuesday, September 17th from 5-9 pm. Say you're with Fairmont and help support the Fairmont PTA. Invite your friends!

Second Saturdays at BAMPFA (Sept. 14)
Recommended for ages 8 and up(younger kids welcome as listeners). Free for Kids plus one Adult. Young readers are invited to read aloud the opening chapters of a good book in BAMPFA’s Reading Room and are given a copy to continue reading at home. No advance sign-up needed; just show up at 3 o’clock, ready to read!
Meet Cub Scout Pack 82 where kids and parents build skills and spend time outside in nature! Beginning in 2018, the Cub Scouts program will be open to boys and girls. By welcoming both girls and boys into the program, even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promotes and be better prepared for future success.
