Spell-A-Thon Makes $6500 for Our Students

The Fairmont Spell-A-Thon has raised over $6,500 — the highest amount raised since the event was started seven years ago. Kudos to all students and their families for their generous donations to this academics-based fundraiser. A big thank you also to the teachers and staff for their instrumental support in making this event successful. All money will go towards PTA-funded programs such as Mr. Mark's music program, Dr. Heather's science program, the 5th grade science camp, and the library program. Meanwhile, a huge number of our students have added m ore words to their vocabulary and learned to spell more words correctly.

The PTA would like to announce the winners in the following prize categories:

1. Fundraising Appreciation Grand Prize of a Kindle eBook Reader

Zayden A. of Rm. 17 PM (Mrs. Cruel's Rm) for being the top fundraiser;

Jelani A. of P-8 (Ms. Kelso's Rm), who was picked in a drawing of 49 students who raised $50 and over;

2. Classroom Grand Prizes of an ice cream party and $100 toward a classroom project/field trip/book purchase:

Mrs. Cruel's kindergarte n class (Rm. 17 PM) for raising the most money;

Congratulations to all students who got 100% correct on their spelling test. Their names were entered into the drawing for a $25 Amazon card, and the winner is Anaiyah of P-3 (Mrs. Burdette's class).

All prizes will be distributed by next week.

Students who raised at least $10 will also receive a participation gift soon.
