Pt. Bonita Information Meeting

World’s Finest Chocolate Bars will be available to purchase for the 5th grade fundraiser! Each box costs $60, and you sell the assorted bars for $2 each.
6500 Stockton (senior center) Update
To recap: This district-owned building is currently leased to the City of El Cerrito for a senior center, and the district has given the city notice that the lease will end on June 30, 2018. The lease includes the entire parking lot between the school, library, and senior center, but not the library building. The city has not announced any firm plans for relocating the senior services, but at this point has not asked for an additional extension. At the site tour a few weeks ago, it was clear that the building is large, could serve a variety of functions, and looks to be in pretty good shape other than some cosmetic items. We don't know if the building meets state standards for housing students so at this time that's not a focus - there are plenty of administrative uses that could happen there, freeing up space on the main campus for instructional purposes. Longer term, there should be further study of moving some student uses over - but first we have to occupy the space!
Meanwhile, Tuesday, November 14th, is the last District Facilities Subcommittee meeting of 2017 (agenda in Upcoming Events). We will continue the discussion with Board Chair Block and Board Member Kronenberg at this meeting about bringing 6500 Stockton back into school use. The faculty have submitted a long list of ideas, to which the district staff should give further consideration; however, we really don't want this building to get subsumed into Fairmont's Critical Needs Allocation (CNA) of $3 million which should go to the existing school building - at this meeting, we would like the board members to give clear direction to staff to keep the funding separate.

Thanksgiving Coffee with the Principal
November 22nd at 8:35 am in MLP come get the news From Ms. Bernhardt. Find out what our students are doing online & join us for a Pumpkin Spice Bake-Off
We will have news from the principal, coffee and treats. We will also have tablets and computers and be available to answer questions about what your students are doing online and how to help them. You will also be able to register to volunteer in class, sign up for newsletters and robocalls, even set up an email.
Fundraising Results & Winners
Reflections “Within Reach” Winners
Thank you to all of the students who participated in our first Reflections art event in recent memory. This national PTA art contest allows students to submit creative works in several categories, with the entries best fitting the year’s theme moving through contests at the various PTA levels, the winners receiving recognition and prizes along the way.
We received entries in the Visual Arts and Literature categories. In visual arts, Lydia B. won the Intermediate age group (grades 3-5), with Henry B. and Jack O. taking second and third. In the Primary group (grades TK-2), Adri P. won first prize, with Nadav P. taking second. In literature, Clara C. took first prize in the Primary age group. All students who entered got a free treat coupon, and winners received prizes donated by Jenny K’s.
Next year, we hope even more students enter, and with enough participation, we plan to have a showcase event. The theme for next Fall will be available in May 2018, and we will make entry information available as soon as we can.

128 students participated, raising $16,532! Graham Harper won two tickets to a Warriors Game (donated through Playworks Coach Aquil), Che Hernandez won a Warriors jersey (donated by Mr. Gary!), and Adri Parekh won the raffle for a lego kit.
T-shirts, backpacks and keychains are on the way. Thank you all for participating and helping fund the music, science and field trip programs for our school.
Chipotle Fundraising Dinner
We raised $340 towards the 5th grade Point Bonita trip. Thank you for helping out with this amazing adventure for our 5th graders. There are more ways to help them coming up!
Jenny K Fundraiser Nov 12-18
Get your holiday shopping done early and raise money for Fairmont! Jenny K has gifts, accessories, and toys for everyone in the family! Mention Fairmont and 20% of your purchase will be donated to the school. Jenny K is located at 6921 Stockton, near Well Grounded Coffee Shop. The store will be open 9am-7pm during the fundraising event.

EC Parks and Rec Facilities Master Plan
The City of El Cerrito is conducting a Parks & Recreation Facilities Master Plan to engage the community to create a blueprint of how parks and recreation facilities and programs will look in the future. We want to know what people need and want and what it will take to maintain and enhance our parks system and recreational offerings.
The first part of this public process is an online survey and forum. The second part of this process are four public meetings the first of which will be held soon on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 9:30-11:30am at the El Cerrito Community Center. To participate in the online survey and forum and get up to date information on this process, please visit www.el-cerrito.org/ParksMP. The survey is also available in Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish.
