Security on Campus
For anyone who missed the Principal's newsletter there will be some changes to campus security over the next couple of weeks. The hope is to make the campus more secure and create the safest possible environment for our teachers and students. Please allow adequate time at drop off and pick up as there may be increased traffic and confusion near the main entrance on Kearney. The drop off line at Kearney is only for DROPPING off your student. If you need to get out of the car to help your child, please park and then assist your child to allow traffic to flow at the drop off zone. People should NOT linger in the drop off zone. Make sure that you move down to the end of the drop-off zone as far as possible and listen to our crossing guards and teachers who assist outside. Set a good example for all our students (including your child) and show that you can follow instructions and behave in a positive and civil manner. Just remember that your children are always watching you and learning how to interact with others, so please keep that in mind when communicating with helpers during drop-off.
If you walk and have the option of crossing to the school side of the street before you reach the intersection of Kearney and Stockton, that may also be wise. At this point, parents will still be allowed to come on campus for drop-off. Please be sure to leave campus as soon as your child departs to their classroom. If you are helping on campus, be sure to wear your badge. Anyone coming on campus needs to sign in at the office and get a visitor sticker or wear their badge. The MPR gates will only be open until 8:05AM, so they will be closed for general drop off. The Clubhouse gate will close promptly at 8:25. The Kindergarten gate will close at 8:30. Any student arriving late will have to come to the front gate. Gates will not open until dismissal at 2:40 or 2:05 on minimum days. The only exception being for special needs students. Please do not use this gate to enter the campus before dismisal time. The gate between the Kindergarten yard and Lambie plaza (near the MPR) will remain closed at the time of Kindergarten dismissal and may not be used to enter the main campus. Thank you for helping us build a safer school community!

The Boot Classic
Madera Elementary Lower Yard
Madera vs. Harding vs. Kensington vs. Fairmont
Now in it's 6th year, it's time for the Boot Classic. The Annual Unofficial Invitational Kickball Tournament between Kensington, Harding, Fairmont and Madera: The Boot Classic is back on Saturday, March 3rd from 9:00 - 1:30 at Madera Elementary School’s Lower Yard. First game starts promptly at 9:30! Teams are both girls and boys in 4th - 6th grades.
The Boot Classic is an Olympic system or knockout tournament and each school is to field their own team. This is the kid’s game. They made the rules and started the tournament. All the players should have a great day out and the parents, alumni and friends should encourage good cheer and sportsmanship! We'll have Playworks Coaches ensuring fair play. We also would like to encourage teams who aren’t playing to participate as spectators.
We may be getting rain this year but all should note that we will take the date as it comes.
This year, rather than a taco truck, The Madera Kitchen will be preparing and serving organic healthy lunches for purchase.
The menu includes two menu options from which to purchase for $10/meal.
*Chicken salad sandwich/chips drink
*Hearty Veggie salad/chips/drink
Please bring extra snacks, warm clothing, blankets and/or camp chairs. Come out and support your school and have fun!
